| About Us at Redding Drag Strip Redding Drag Strip
which is run by Northern California Drag Racing Association (NCDRA), a non-profit
corporation, is a seasonal operation. Between March and October 2006, the track will
offer 34 events. About half are slated for daytime drag racing which encompass a
wide variety of National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) sanctioned programs. The
remaining half is strictly the nighttime Street Legal Drags program (also under NHRA
auspices) that take advantage of cooler night temperatures during June, July and August.
It takes about fourteen management and staff personnel to operate an activity.
Meet the people who bring their own style of skills, personality and love of motorsports
which help enrich the fun and exciting environment at Redding Drag Strip. (We will
be adding to this section on a regular basis).

David Flaus "Nitro"
StarterI have lived in California for the past 24 years and
in Redding for the past two. I'm married with a 1 year-old son and a new baby due in
May 2005. I work as a paver/operator for a local paving company, but my love is drag
racing. I went to my first race as an infant with my Mom, guess it's in the blood.
I've been the Starter for four years. |

TowerI was born in Visalia, CA and have lived in Redding for 30
years. I learned about racing when I was nine-years old racing go-karts on this very
property. I work at Seco Mfg. in inventory control and have worked at this track for
five-years and enjoy all the time I spend here. |

I'm from San Diego and I've lived in Redding for three years. I enjoy
cheerleading, spending time with friends and going to concerts. I love working at
the drag strip because of hot cars and cool guys. My favorite is a '66 Mustang, but
Novas and Chargers are cool too. The drag strip is so much fun and a great place to
hang out! |

Fire/Safety Crew (Ambulance Pilot)
norcaldutchovendave@yahoo.comI
came from Sonoma County to Redding 12 years ago. I have one daughter and one
granddaughter. I have been a volunteer fire fighter and EMT for 14 years, working on
the coast in Sonoma County as an open-water lifeguard. I'm going back to college for
my bachelors in nursing while working at Shasta Health Care as a CNA.
I miss working at Sears Point on Fire/Safety, but working at the drag strip in Redding
can't be beat. Look for me soon in a '73 260Z on Street Legal night. Come by
and say 'Hello'. |

Rod (Rock) Corbin In Memory (May 15, 1945 -
December 22, 2004)
Water Box, Staging Lanes
Rock was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to California in 2002 after a
divorce. He had two grown daughters (Jenny & Chandra); two grandkids and one
great-grandchild. He retired from the transportation service and lived with his wife
(Greta) and her daughter (Victoria) on a 21-acre ranch they bought in 2003, and where they
started to raise cattle and pigs. Rock enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and
camping. Greta is into making things out of leather which Rock enjoyed her teaching
him to do. |

John H. Shaw
Firefighter 1/EMT 1
Safety Crew Leader/Assistant Starter
johnshawus@yahoo.com
I was a Redding native for 13 years, at which time my parents moved to Burney. I
am a second-generation 'Starter' for the Redding Drag Strip, my father worked as a
'Starter' from 1980-1981. I've always enjoyed racing and view my job as a hobby
rather than work. Last year was my first year at the track; by the end of the season
I was part of the NCDRA family. When I am not working, I enjoy working with my 1967
Ford Fairlane Ranchero (my project under construction). I am currently working on
upgrading the safety equipment and quality of medical care at the Redding Drag Strip.
I'm always looking for good quality equipment, feel free to email me if you have
any information on equipment for the track. We are looking for fire suppression and
extrication equipment. Thanks. |

Melita (Kiki) Bena
kikiskandy@hughes.netI'm a
transplant from Long Island, New York; lived in Redding for six years, and in California
for twelve. Have two grown daughters (Yvonne and Melita) and four grandkids (one of
which I'm proud to say serves in the U S Army). Am semi-retired and have rekindled
my love of drag racing. 2006 was my first competitive year in "KikisKandy",
a rear-engine-dragster with a 468 bbc, normally aspirated and am so proud to have received
"Rookie of the Year" for 2006. I have been thrilled working with
Redding Drag Strip/NCDRA's great board and staff and hope to continue meeting a
'hell-of-a-bunch' of nice people along the way. |
