Illnesses and Memorials of the Friends and Fellow Racers of
Redding Drag Strip
| Bill Taggart It is with deep regret that I
must report the passing of my dear friend and former business
partner Bill Taggart who died Saturday, March 3rd at 9:20 pm, at the
home of his Son Billy and Daughter in law Vienna.
Bill had been in ill health for sometime, and until about 5 years
ago served as a Tech person at Infineon Raceway until ill health
forced him into retirement.
Bill also leaves behind daughter Kathy, and numerous grandchildren,
as well as his companion and soul mate Edie Bright. Please keep the
Taggart family in your prayers during these sad times, and once
funeral arrangements are made, I will send out notifications.

Memorial service for Bill Taggart will be at 3 p.m. at McArthur
Baptist Church, 2301 Rumrill Blvd, San Pablo, CA 94806 on
Saturday, March 10, 2007. A second memorial service will be
held at Infineon Raceway on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at 1p.m.

Memorial for Joel Hefner
- Cottonwood, CA
COTTONWOOD --
Visitation for Joel D. Hefner, 48, of Cottonwood where held from 3 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at McDonald's Redding Chapel. Services held at 11 a.m. Wednesday
at the chapel. Burial at Redding Memorial Park.
Mr. Hefner died Friday, June
16, 2006, at home. Born Oct. 5, 1957, in Oklahoma City, he moved to Shasta County
in 2000 from San Jose. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a motor home technician,
the track manager of The Redding Drag Strip and a member of the Neighborhood Church in
Redding.
Survivors include wife
Sherry; son Christopher of Los Gatos; daughter Kelsey of Cottonwood; sister Cheryle
Roberts of Cottonwood; and parents Gerald and Carroll, both of Redding.

Excerpt from the June 30th NCDRA - Newsletter
Much has happened over the
last month, both good and bad. The passing of
Joel Hefner, our track manager, fellow racer and friend on June 16th, and
subsequent services on June 21st saddened everyone, but also showed our
strength as a club. Joels family has
expressed their thanks and appreciation for all the comfort given by the membership, and
wants us to know how much Joel loved being with us.
A benefit event will be held
during the August 26th-27th, 2006 races. An additional $5 entry and $5 tech card will be
collected for the Hefner Family. Thanks for
your continued support.

| Illness of Ray Hedstrom
- Update: (04-22-05: Ray is recovering nicely at home.) Ray has been
hospitalized as of Tuesday, April 12th due to a heart attack. He is in the ICU, in
stable condition, at Mercy Medical Center - Redding, CA. More info will be posted
when known.

| Memorial for Randall
"Randy" Liddell - Redding, CA REDDING -- Services for Randall Liddell, 56, of Redding
will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Redding Christian Fellowship. The Rev. Lyle
Faudree of the church will officiate. Burial will be at Redding Memorial Park.
Randy died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at his
residence of a short illness. Born June 25,1948, in Redding, he was a lifelong resident of
Shasta County.
He was the owner and operator of Randy Liddell
Performance and Damper Dudes, both in Anderson, and a member of Redding Christian
Fellowship.
Survivors include wife Linda; sons Gregory of
Rocklin and Ronald of Lexington, N.C.; daughter Amber Griffith of Redding; sister Carolyn
Hill of Martinez; father Denis of Redding; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy
Hospice, 1544 Market St., Redding, CA 96001.

| Memorial for George H. Warner -
Redding, CA George G. Warner, 90, passed away at the home of his son, Paul Warner, in
Palo Cedro, CA on April 9, 2005. George was born November 11, 1914 to Leslie and
Vera Warner in Long Beach, CA. He moved to Red Bluff, CA in 1978 following
retirement as Branch Chief with the CA Dept. of Fish and Game, and employment as a private
fisheries consultant. Through his career he was involved in efforts to perserve CA's
anadromous fisheries resoures. In 1972, in view of his work, the Western Association
of Fish and Game Commissioners named him Professional of the Year.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise, and his second wife, Doris.
He is survived by his sons; Paul Warner of Palo Cedro, CA and Philip Warner of Red Bluff,
CA, daughter Gail Taylor of Red Bluff, CA; six grandchildren and five great
grandchildren. A memorial was held at the Chapel of Flowers in Red Bluff, CA on
Wednesday April 13th. Contributions may be made to Cone Community United Methodist
Church in Dairyville, CA. |

| Memorial for Nathaniel Tipp -
Redding, CA Nathaniel died Sunday, April 3, 2005, in Redding following an automobile
accident. He was born August 24, 1986, in Redding, and was a lifelong Shasta County
resident.
He worked at Big Lots in Redding, was a 2004 graduate of the Shasta Learning Center and
played for the Redding City League co-ed softball team.
Survivors include sister Natasha of Redding; parents David and Tina of Redding;
grandfather Terry Rhinehart of Weaverville; and grandmother Betty of Redding.
Arrangements were handled by Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro.

Leroy Philson, on February 5, 2005 from a complication of treatment for lung
cancer. Along with his wife, Bonnie, they raced "Mighty Mouse", a 1958

Birdsong - Red Bluff, CA Larry Birdsong, 60, on February 17,
2005 from a sudden event.
Larry started to come to the Redding Drag Strip in the 1950's and has always enjoyed
racing at the track. He, along with son Larry, and the Birdsong Auto Center have

LARRY FLOYD "BUTCH" BIRDSONG
Tuesday, February 22, 2005 - Larry Floyd "Butch" Birdsong, 60, died February 17,
2005 at his home in Red Bluff. Born February 23, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA. He was the owner
of Birdsong Auto Center. Larry enjoyed Drag Racing and spending time with his family. He
was always proud to sponsor many organizations in the area. Survivors include his loving
wife of 43 years, Wanda Birdsong, son Larry Birdsong, daughter-in-law Dana Birdsong,
granddaughters, Piper and Cassidy Birdsong, daughter, Kimberly Birdsong, grandson, Cheyne
Birdsong, mother, Mytrle Birdsong, mother-in-law Lucy Young, sisters, Gloria Royal, Diane
Perez, Melody Christy, brothers, Gary Birdsong, Steve Birdsong, brother-in-law and
sister-in-law Tom and Susan Young, brother-in-law George Christy, and many nieces and
nephews. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at
Chapel of the Flowers. A memorial service will be Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 2:00 pm
at the Vineyard Fellowship Church with Pastor Steve Igarta officiating. Burial will be Oak
Hill Cemetery.

| Memorial for Rod "Rock" Corbin
- Igo, CA Rod Corbin, 59, on December 22, 2004 after a short battle with
cancer. Rock loved drag racing and spent part of the 2004 race season working at the
track in the staging lanes and at the water box. Here is a reprint of the Record

Rodney Corbin
IGO - Rodney James Corbin, 59, of Igo died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Mercy Medical
Center in Redding. No services will be held. Born May 15, 1945, in Cincinnati,
he moved to Igo in 2002 from Cottonwood. He was a traffic checker for a Cincinnati
bus company for 22 years. Survivors include wife, Greta; daughters Jenny Lynch and
Chandra, both of Ohio; stepson Robert Maeder of Cottonwood; stepdaughter Victoria Maeder
of Igo; brother Terry of Oklahoma; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangement are being handled by Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding.
